Oregon Myrtlewood is a broadleaf evergreen native to Southwestern Oregon and Northwestern California. It grows prolifically in this coastal region. The crushed leaves have a powerful aromatic scent which can be used as a sure identification and are frequently used in cooking as a substitute for True Bay, plus they are also noted as a flea repellant when freshly crushed.
Oregon Myrtlewood possesses a wide variety of beautiful colors and grain patterns and is noted by many as being one of the world’s most beautiful woods. The color of the wood is often influenced by the minerals in the soil, which could be a factor in its popularity on the Oregon coast. The colors range from blonde to black with many shades of honey, browns, satiny grays, with reds and greens in between. In that vein, the the Apiary clock seeks to play the vibrant colors of the honey pigment off of the unique browns and grays of the wood. Sanded and hand crafted to a smooth finish, this board will brighten up any room.
As with all hand-crafted pieces, the wood grains of each crafted clock will have its own unique spin, as no two clocks will ever be identical! You are receiving a truly one-off piece.
