Buckeye Burl (Aesculus californica) is an unusual species. Colors range from blue-black to golden whites with a nice mixture in between giving it a striking and unique pattern. The base of the tree (called root wad) that is underground produces 90% or more of the burl for tis species. When the wood dries it loses almost all of its weight. A block that weighed 7 pounds wet only weighs a little over a pound when it dries. Buckeye will usually have bark inclusions, live edges, and voids in burl eyes. As you can see with this, ALL of that was included in this piece! Interestingly enough, while Buckeye is classified as a hardwood it is much softer than many softwoods available which translates into a lighter wood. The amazing patterns & colors of this wood make it very popular.
This beautiful handmade clock was named after its color and look, resembling cliffs over water. Made from gorgeous Buckeye Burl and paired with eco-friendly epoxy, this soft, semi-translucent color brings peace and serenity to the room. A perfect piece for those low-key hosting events among friends.
As with all hand-crafted pieces, the wood grains and color swirls of each clock will have its own unique spin, as no two clocks will ever be identical! You are receiving a truly one-off piece.
These clocks are a perfect gift for any Holiday, Birthday, Wedding, Engagement, Housewarming or a treat for your very own home!
